Airflow modelling is one of Deerns UK’s core competencies. We use computational fluid dynamics software, FloVent for both internal and external facility models.
As a design tool we are able to accurately simulate critical space airflows under normal and failure conditions thus assuring a robust and optimised design. The software can also be used to model air flow around external plant areas such as chillers, generators, cooling towers to ensure no – or minimal – short circuiting of hot exhaust air occurs, which can lead to a decrease in efficiency and availability of free cooling. Examples from previous projects for cooling tower plume modeling and internal Data Hall modeling are shown below.
We use CFD modelling extensively in proving air system designs and in analysis of existing systems for data centres, cleanrooms, laboratories, manufacturing and research buildings and external plant.
